      The simulation parameters, shape/orientation
selections and current display settings can be stored
with a text description to a single file so that
the simulation can be recalled and re-run later.

Modification of a pre-stored parameter file is the
easiest way to generate a new complex halo simulation.

          A. TO STORE SIMULATION PARAMETERS
          B. AUTOMATICALLY STORE PARAMETERS
          C. TO RETRIEVE PARAMETERS
          D. PREFERENCES - STARTUP.SIM

      A. TO STORE SIMULATION PARAMETERS

Click the 'Save parameters' button on Control Panel.

If the option to request a description has been set
[go to 'Tools' 'Options' if necessary] a
'Simulation Description' box will appear. Enter
any or no description (less than 32k!) and click
      'Save'.

A Save File dialog box opens. Choose a file name
and save. Saved parameter files are automatically
      given an extension ".sim".

      B. AUTOMATICALLY STORE PARAMETERS

Sometimes a carefully selected colour or parameter
is changed without remembering to store it. Provided
the option is turned on, the old parameters can
      now usually be restored.

Go to 'Tools' 'Options' and check 'Autosave
      Parameters'

The simulation parameters will now be saved when
a simulation is started. Find then as "autosav1"
or "autosav2". This preserves the last two
sets of parameters. The stored description is
that in memory at the time and may not be relevant.

      C. TO RETRIEVE PARAMETERS

Click the 'Load parameters' button and select the
      file.

Read the description by clicking the pink ' ? '
      button.

      D. PREFERENCES - STARTUP.SIM

This stored parameter file is special in that it
is automatically loaded when HALOSIM starts or the
Reset button is clicked. It is convenient for
storing some display preferences especially colours
and is updated when 'Save Preferences' is selected
      from the 'file' menu.

Clicking 'Save Preferences' is a quite separate
operation from saving default program options
      under 'Tools' 'Options'.
